Job Description
Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, TN, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States.
Rogers Group is seeking a Milling Heavy Equipment Operator to support our construction operations based out of Greer, South Carolina. Starting pay is $21 an hour. This position is responsible for operating milling machines and related heavy equipment to remove asphalt pavement and prepare surfaces for paving.
Job Details
- Location: Greer, SC
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Pay: Starting pay $21.00/hr + dependent on experience
- Schedule: Shifts may vary due to workload (days, nights, weekends, and overtime as required)
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate asphalt milling machines and associated heavy equipment under varying jobsite conditions
- Operate broom, skid steer, and other support equipment to clean and prep milled surfaces
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections, maintenance, greasing, and cleaning of equipment
- Assist with general labor tasks around the mill and jobsite as needed
- Communicate clearly with crew members to ensure efficient and safe operations
- Maintain a strong focus on safety for all personnel working around equipment
- Prepare milled surfaces to ensure readiness for paving operations
- Follow all company policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and supervisor instructions
- Work as part of a team to meet production, quality, and safety expectations
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of asphalt milling or asphalt crew experience preferred
- Solid understanding of the milling and surface preparation process
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as milling machines, skid steers, and brooms
- Familiarity with road construction environments; high-traffic or MUTCD experience a plus
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to follow procedures and regulations
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and working outdoors in extreme heat or cold
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing
