The South Carolina State Museum is the largest museum in South Carolina, stewarding over 1.1 million objects and specimens and welcoming 5 million+ visitors over its 37-year history. The museum has recently embarked on a renovation of 150,000 square feet of its exhibition, programmatic and collection storage spaces occupying four floors of a historic 1890s textile mill on the National Register of Historic Places. This renovation will incorporate artwork, artifacts and specimens in new spaces across our 4 disciplines, as well as additional gallery space dedicated to the museum's art collection. We are seeking a Public Safety Officer to ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff, facilities, and collections at the South Carolina State Museum. The Public Safety Officer assists in asset protection, loss prevention, emergency response and creating a positive visitor experience while assisting with implementing policies and procedures designed to protect the human and physical assets of the Museum.
