426 Fairforest WayGreenville, SC 29607, USADescriptionSummary/ObjectiveAnalyzes samples to quantify chemical composition in accordance with National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) and South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SC DES) standards and in compliance with EPA regulationsEssential FunctionsPerforms laboratory operations, including preparation, analysis, quantification of chemicals; prepares standards and samples for analysis, including quality control samples, and reports final results; analyses include microbiology, chemical oxygen demand, specific conductivity, chlorine, solids, turbidity, etc.Documents work performed; maintains laboratory notebooks, recordings, software data, etc. for raw data, standard preparations, and equipmentPerforms routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of equipment; conducts in-depth maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment by diagnostic methodsPerforms actions required to maintain accreditation; runs, reports, and passes audit samples bi-annually; completes MDL studies for each required method bi-annually, completes initial and yearly ongoing DOC analyses for each test method, and ensures all methods are run according to the requirements in each SOPEdits and reviews documents; reviews SOPs and guidance documents to ensure all procedures accurately reflect laboratory practices and meet certification requirementsPerforms other job-related duties as assignedRequired QualificationsEDUCATION REQUIREMENT –Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field is preferred1-3+ years in a laboratory settingFamiliarity with various sample methodsPay Rate$20/hourKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis operations and lab safetyProficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word and ExcelStrong verbal and written communication skillsProfessional demeanor and appearance; ability to serve as a representative of the companyAbility to prioritize and multi-taskStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to read, count, and write, to accurately complete all documentationWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory setting.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Standing for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Duties frequently involve repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination. Testing priorities and timelines may serve as a source of emotional stress.Occasional heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force may occasionally be required. While performing the duties of this job, good manual dexterity for the use of laboratory equipment is needed.
