In this role, the successful candidate will serve a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. Environmental Service Worker III demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with various age groups of patients, visitors and staff in order to provide required duties. The unique physical and psychosocial needs of patients relative to age‑specific requirements are considered in the provision of ESW III duties. Communication skills must be demonstrated through age‑specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction.Job ResponsibilitiesPrioritize work assignments.Communicate with ES Manager/Supervisor; report progress and completion of assignments.At beginning of shift, review day's agenda and goals with ES Manager/Supervisors.At end of shift communicate any assignments not completed to ES Manager/Supervisors.Dry or damp mop assigned areas.Operate floor buffing equipment and automatic scrubbing machine.Determine appropriate products for duties; comply with product usage guidelines.Ensure floors are free of debris and keep corners and baseboards clean.Obtain equipment and supplies efficiently; keep all equipment safe and in proper working condition.Possess knowledge of all chemicals and their proper usage; follow safety procedures when moving heavy objects.Break down equipment at the end of shift and place it in proper storage area.Notify Environmental Supervisor of equipment needing repair.Maintain proper procedures for shower scrub, strip and refinish floors; consistently use wet floor signs while refinishing.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalency.Approximately one to three months of experience with cleaning procedures and power equipment use/maintenance.Continued education through appropriate seminars, workshops, departmental meetings, in‑services and attention to Brookhaven memorandum.Good interpersonal skills in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors.Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.Additional InformationAll qualified individuals are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration without regard to race, color, gender, gender identity or expression, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender dysphoria, national origin, age, religion, disability, military and veteran status, marital or parental status, citizenship status, genetic information or any other factor which cannot lawfully be used as a basis for an employment decision.
