Position Summary

The Operations Manager oversees Transportation, Salvage, Warehouse, and Clearance Center operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant support of retail and distribution activities. This role leads teams, manages assets, drives operational improvements, and ensures alignment with Goodwill's mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Transportation, Salvage, Warehouse, and Clearance Center operations, including deliveries to and from stores, Attended Donation Centers (ADCs), Unattended Donation Centers (UDCs), and internal/external warehouses
  • Supervise associates and program participants in daily retail, warehouse, and distribution operations
  • Hire, train, coach, and cross-train team members to meet operational goals and support associate development
  • Plan and facilitate regular Transportation, Salvage, Warehouse, and Clearance Center meetings
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversee preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of tractors, trailers, and warehouse equipment
  • Coordinate purchase of new vehicles/equipment and disposition of depreciated assets
  • Ensure compliance with South Carolina DOT, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), safety, and security regulations
  • Oversee warehouse production and Centralized Production support to ensure consistent store replenishment as requested
  • Use operational reports and technology (Closed-circuit Television (CCTV), cab cameras, fleet management software, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to drive data-informed decisions
  • Partner with the VP of Operational Excellence on strategic planning and operational training initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all Goodwill policies and procedures
  • Support other locations and perform additional duties as assigned
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Supervisory experience in transportation, warehouse, or logistics operations
  • Working knowledge of logistics, shipping, receiving, and supply chain processes
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, including South Carolina DOT, FMCSA, HazMat, and OSHA
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including planning, organizing, scheduling, training, and coaching
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License required
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) highly preferred
