Floor Crew Supervisor (GA)

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist university personnel with fine arts programs and productions and supervise student workers on the stage crew.

This 12-month Staff GA position is reserved for graduate level students of Bob Jones University. An employee in this role must be enrolled in 6-10 credits per semester while a GA.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the Artistic Director's vision.
  • Serve the Technical and Stage Director's vision
  • Maintain alignment with the university's biblical, artistic, and philosophical standards.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of stage productions, rehearsals, and campus events.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate student crew members during setup, performance, and strike activities.
  • Organize and assign work to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Support set construction, movement, storage, and maintenance.
  • Assist in executing technical production elements across events and programs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide operational support across University Productions Group departments as needed.
  • Participate in evening and weekend rehearsals and events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and oversee a large team of student workers.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and scheduling student employees.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Train student workers in production processes, safety procedures, and technical skills.
  • Mentor students in leadership, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Encourage a positive team culture and collaborative work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enrollment in a graduate program required.
  • Experience in stage production, technical theater, or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of stage operations and production workflows.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate team members.
  • Basic technical skills (e.g., carpentry or willingness to learn).
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
