Electrical Principal Design EngineerJob DescriptionProvide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge and leadership as described below. This position has oversight of a specific project area and acts as a representative of the engineering discipline ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This is a lead position on assigned projects performing engineering assignments of advanced complexity.Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, serve as a Supervising Lead providingguidance / supervision to other engineers and designersAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of advancedcomplexity in accordance with project requirementsDevelop and review specifications and design criteriaPerform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems;and solve technical problems of advanced complexityCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines Developand review estimates, schedules, and progress reports including effort-hour estimating and staff forecastingEstablish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts Providetechnical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement andsubcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration includingresponse to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedBasic Job RequirementsU.S. Citizenship requiredBachelor of Science degree in Electrical (Power) Engineering and minimum fifteen (15) years of work-related experienceWorking knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standardsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standardsAbility to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of wordprocessing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsSignificant experience providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services on large industrial projectsProficiency executing large EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-disciplineenvironmentDiscipline Specific Job RequirementsInterpret and apply national, state, and local codes and standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design / construction documents, specifications, and system descriptions related to assigned tasks through project startup Prepare and modify electrical design drawings (e.g., single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagram layouts, raceway, lighting, and grounding)Perform complex system studies (e.g., short circuit, load flow, stability, motor starting, harmonics, relay coordination and ground grid)Develop complex area classifications and design documents Develop complex electrical design documentsPerform electrical calculations such as short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop, cable de-rating, and cable pulling tensionPrepare motor schematics and wiring diagramsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer licenseExperience with design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1 Advanced knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materialsDemonstrated experience managing and leading large projectsProficiency with project set-up, development of control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-outPractical field experienceEPC project experience for the following industries:U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnologyAdvanced knowledge of: Electrical codes and standards Electrical power systemsElectrical power systems software (e.g., SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP)Electrical Senior Design EngineerJob DescriptionProvide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge and leadership as described below.
