Position Summary We are searching for an experienced Material Handler / Machine Shop Utility Worker to support day-to-day operations at client's Wellford, SC facility. This role is a key support position within the shop, responsible for keeping machines running efficiently by ensuring material flow, staging, and general shop support.
The ideal candidate comes from a machine shop, fabrication shop, or metal service center environment and is comfortable being hands-on and flexible throughout the shop. This role is well suited for individuals who understand shop flow, take pride in supporting the team, and value consistency, safety, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Support production by moving, staging, and pulling material from machines and work centers
Assist operators by ensuring material is available and cleared as jobs are completed
Load and unload material using forklifts and overhead cranes
Perform general machine shop utility work, assisting across multiple work areas as needed
Handle raw material, WIP, and finished goods throughout the shop
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Occasionally assist with machine operation or basic machine tasks when trained
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior machine shop, fabrication, or manufacturing floor experience
Experience handling materials in a production environment
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced shop environment
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-first mindset
Physical ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work for extended periods walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, lifting
Safety glasses, hand protection, safety toe shoes are required
Employment Type & Compensation
This is a Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position
Pay rate is $25.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience
