This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering assignment of intermediate complexity.Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems ofintermediate complexity in accordance with project requirementsDevelop and review specifications and design criteriaPerform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexityCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselinesEstablish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedDiscipline Specific Job RequirementsPrepare and review calculations and specifications relating to Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) developmentParticipate in HazOp / Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for assigned systemsDemonstrated design experience in areas such as utility and/or process systems and SpecificationFor Principal level – Advanced knowledge in development of the following:Process design criteria; process calculations; process simulationHazops / Process Hazards AnalysisHeat and material balances; utility summaries / balancesBlock flow diagrams; process flow diagramsP&IDsEquipment listEquipment process datasheetsControl systems datasheetsFunctional logic narrativesPiping design data / line list; tie-in dataHazardous area classificationPower requirement – electrical load listEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of related work experience for Process Design Engineer.15+ years of experience for Principal Process Design Engineer.Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes (including DOE orders)Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.Experience providing EPC services on large industirlal projects.3D modeling and 2D CADD experience.Ability to work in a diverse work environment.Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSProfessional Engineer license.Practical field experienceNQA-1 experience.EPC project experience for the following industries:U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government AgencyNuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance programManufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnologyProficiency with reading and working with P&IDsKnowledge of:Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)Development of P&IDsHazOp MethodologyLOCATIONGreenville, SC.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSSuccessful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.
