This position has oversight of a specific project area and acts as a representative of the engineering discipline ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This is a lead position on assigned projects performing engineering assignments of advanced complexity.Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, serve as a Supervising Lead providing guidance and supervision to other engineers and designersAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of advanced complexity in accordance with project requirementsDevelop and review specifications and design criteriaPerform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment andsystems; and solve technical problems of advanced complexityCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselinesDevelop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports including efforthour estimating and staff forecastingEstablish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration includingresponse to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedDiscipline Specific Job RequirementsPerform a broad range of I&C design activities, including design definition, control systems architecture and development, digital systems, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC),Distributed Control Systems (DCS), network configuration, logic development, network switches, process controls, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development support and review, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), communication protocols, routing, and layout, Safety Integrity Level (SIL), and procurement activitiesPerform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and other instrumentationCreate instrument index and datasheets, generate reports, and monitor design wiring and loop development activities in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) databaseDevelop complex control systems narrative specificationsPrepare complex instrument design and installation requirementsDevelop complex control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagramsRepresent control systems in model reviews; closely monitor 3D modeling prepared by the design group using review softwareReview and audit specifications for DCS, PLC, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applicationsMonitor DCS / PLC / SIS design developed by the design groupEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Science degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering fieldMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS15+ years of related work experience.Professional Engineer license.Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes (including DOE orders)Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.Significant experience providing EPC services on large industirlal projects.3D modeling and 2D CADD experience.Ability to work in a diverse work environment.Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSActive DOE Q‑level security clearance.Advanced knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materialsExperience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1Demonstrated experience managing and leading large projectsProficiency with project set-up, development of control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-outPractical field experienceEPC project experience for the following industries:U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government AgencyNuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance programManufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnologyProficiency with Bentley MicroStationProficiency with Autodesk AutoCADProficiency with Intergraph SPIAdvanced knowledge of:Specifying instrumentationControl systems procurement activitiesP&ID representation; can recognize / report problems associated with control systems representation on P&IDDeveloping control strategies and represent on P&IDKnowledge and experience developing safety requirement specifications for Safety Instrumented SystemsPractical experience in Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews and SIL assignmentExperience in SIL verification calculationsExperience in commissioning and startup of DCS, PLC, and SISLOCATIONCan based in Greenville, SC or Houston, TX.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSSuccessful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.
