Off-Duty Officer for Athletic/School Events-2025-2026

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Off-Duty Officer to work as part of our security team during athletic and school events. As an Off-Duty Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, enforcing rules and regulations, and providing assistance to event staff, spectators, and participants. This position requires exceptional observational skills, strong communication abilities, and the ability to act swiftly and decisively in emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be employed as an active-duty police officer or sheriff's deputy and possess South Carolina Class 1 or 3 certification through the SC Criminal Justice Academy.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Security Presence: Maintain a visible security presence during athletic events, patrolling designated areas to deter potential disturbances or criminal activities.
  • Crowd Control: Monitor and manage crowd movements, ensuring orderliness, and preventing any disruptive behavior. Assist with controlling access points and directing spectators as necessary.
  • Rules Enforcement: Enforce event rules and regulations, ensuring compliance from participants, coaches, staff, and spectators. Address any violations promptly and appropriately. Emergency Response: Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, altercations, or any other incidents that may arise. Coordinate with event staff, medical personnel, or law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts or disagreements among spectators, participants, or staff, employing strong communication and de-escalation skills to diffuse tense situations.
  • First Aid and CPR: Provide basic first aid assistance and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if required, until medical professionals arrive on the scene.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with event organizers, fellow security personnel, and law enforcement agencies to relay important information or coordinate response efforts.
  • Professional Conduct: Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, adhering to ethical standards and demonstrating respect for event attendees, colleagues, and the public.

Pay: $36.50 per hour

FLSA: Non-Exempt
