Position Summary The Senior Electrical Maintenance Mechanic is a highly skilled, hands-on technical role responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and improving complex electrical systems and electrically driven equipment across the manufacturing facility. This position serves as the electrical subject-matter expert within the maintenance team and plays a critical role in equipment uptime, safety, and long-term reliability. This role requires advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems (110V-480V, 3-phase), motor controls, PLC-integrated equipment, VFDs, CNC machines, and facility power distribution. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Electrical Systems (Primary Focus) Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems ranging from 110V single-phase to 480V three-phase power. Install and modify electrical drops for production equipment, CNC machines, lasers, and workstations in coordination with operations and safety. Troubleshoot motors, contactors, relays, transformers, sensors, encoders, and safety circuits. Maintain and troubleshoot VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, and PLC-controlled equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and OEM manuals. Manufacturing Equipment Support Perform advanced electrical and electro-mechanical maintenance on: CNC machines and laser cutting systems Finishing and cleaning equipment (blasters, vibratory systems, parts washers) Air compressors, dryers, and facility utilities Support machine startups, upgrades, retrofits, and relocations. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Develop, improve, and execute electrical Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures. Identify failure trends and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime. Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM logs, and equipment histories. Safety, Compliance & Reliability Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and company safety standards. Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety practices without exception. Support audits, safety inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, TPM). Leadership & Collaboration Serve as the go-to electrical expert for maintenance and operations teams. Mentor and guide junior maintenance technicians in electrical best practices. Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality to improve equipment reliability. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED required. 5-10+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience with: 3-phase power systems (up to 480V) Control panels, motor controls, and VFDs Electrical troubleshooting under production pressure Preferred Technical degree or certification in Industrial Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation. PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar). Experience with CNC or automated manufacturing equipment. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in electrical panels. Exposure to production environments including noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Employment Type: Full Time
