Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Editor/Publisher to lead the editorial vision and business growth of our portfolio of business magazines across South Carolina. This role blends high-level editorial leadership with strategic revenue development, requiring a candidate who can shape compelling content while expanding market presence, partnerships, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership

  • Define and execute the overall editorial strategy across print and digital platforms.
  • Ensure content is timely, relevant, and aligned with the interests of South Carolina's business community.
  • Oversee editorial calendars, feature planning, and special issues.
  • Manage and mentor writers, editors, freelancers, and contributors.
  • Maintain high standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy, and storytelling quality.

New Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including sponsorships, advertising, events, and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, chambers of commerce, and regional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop integrated media packages.
  • Launch new editorial products or market expansions as needed (e.g., niche publications, digital verticals).

Publishing & Operations
  • Oversee production timelines, budgeting, and distribution strategies.
  • Ensure alignment between editorial, sales, and marketing functions.
  • Monitor industry trends to keep the publication competitive and innovative.
  • Utilize analytics to guide editorial decisions and audience growth strategies.

Brand & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a public-facing leader and brand ambassador at events and in the business community.
  • Moderate panels, host events, and represent the publication in speaking engagements.
  • Strengthen the publication's reputation as a trusted voice in South Carolina business.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in publishing, journalism, or media leadership roles.
  • Proven success in both editorial management and revenue/business development.
  • Strong understanding of South Carolina's business landscape is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with digital publishing platforms, analytics tools, and content strategy.
