At Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), we combine personalized learning with a safe, virtual environment, helping students achieve academic success on their own terms—whether they're preparing for college, a career, or whatever comes next.Job DescriptionAnticipated Salary: Counselor Pay ScaleTime Off Plan: 6 weeks of summer break, 10 days of PTO, all school holidays off per school calendar.Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration the School Counselor promotes student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, social and emotional development, and career and college planning and readiness.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.ResponsibilitiesHelps all students:Plan for postsecondary options (enroll in education, enlist in military, join the workforce)Apply academic achievement strategiesManage emotions and apply interpersonal skillsFocuses students and families on college and career readiness;Meets quarterly with all students on caseload to review graduation plan and post‑secondary options;Delivers classroom instruction based on student success standards;Reviews transcripts and other academic documentation for new and returning students;Works collaboratively with teaching staff to develop a four‑year graduation plan and audits student schedules for candidacy for graduation as determined by school and state policies;Assists students in course placement including recommendations on Advanced Placement (AP) and pathways to challenge and enrich student learning opportunities;Analyzes student data and develops data‑driven programs for intervention action plans;Provides short‑term counseling to students and referrals for long‑term support, as necessary;Provides a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents;Supports standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development;May advocate for students at individual education plan meetings and other student‑focused meetings;Focuses students and families on goal setting and academic planning for college and career readiness;Acts as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for all students.Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face‑to‑face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degreeValid South Carolina educator certificate in counselingThree (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement OR equivalent combination of education and experienceProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Web‑based search engines, and database systemsFlexible schedule; Ability to travel as neededAbility to clear required background checkPreferred Education and/or ExperienceExperience with distance learningAdvanced coursework in counseling and administrationExperience as a teacherExperience in a customer service environmentExperience with Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reportingExperience in a charter school environment preferredExperience with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or other career planning platforms/toolsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has 0 direct reports.Top PerksAs a Staff Member At CASC, You'll EnjoyBenefits: Health care, dental, life insurance, and retirement through PEBA - Keep your service credit!Work from home 8am-4pm - no car or lunch duty!Laptop provided by the school and eligibility for internet reimbursementLocationAll staff must reside in the state of South Carolina or within 45 miles of the border.Travel ExpectationsAttend local student outing 1-2 times per semesterAttend in‑person professional development 1-3 times per semesterAttend back‑to‑school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)Participate in in‑person student testingAdditional details on travel will be provided in the interview processAdditional InformationWe offer state health benefits and retirement through PEBA as well as deferred compensation through Empower and supplemental plans through Colonial Life.
