Are you a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) who enjoys combining technical excellence with leadership and long-term impact? G3 Engineering & Surveying is seeking a Survey Department Manager / Surveyor of Record to help lead and grow our Greenville, South Carolina survey practice.

This is a highly visible role offering technical authority, team leadership, and the opportunity to shape survey standards and processes across a diverse portfolio of public and private projects.

What You'll Do

Surveyor of Record & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as Surveyor of Record, providing professional seal and signature on survey deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with South Carolina regulations, boundary law, and ALTA/NSPS standards.
  • Provide quality control oversight and assume professional responsibility for signed work.

Team & Department Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to survey field crews and CAD staff.
  • Assist with workload planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Help develop and improve survey standards, workflows, and best practices.

Project & Client Collaboration

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to define scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple survey efforts while maintaining budget and schedule expectations.

Practice Growth

  • Support business development efforts, including proposals and client relationships.
  • Play a key role in the continued growth and reputation of G3's survey practice.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Active South Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in good standing.
  • 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience.
  • Experience serving as Surveyor of Record or professional-in-charge.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary law, ALTA/NSPS standards, and survey best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong professional judgment.

Preferred

  • North Carolina PLS license.
  • Familiarity with Upstate South Carolina jurisdictions and development environment.
  • Experience leading teams or managing a survey department.
