Manufacturing Engineer

Join our dynamic team as a Manufacturing Engineer in the automotive sector, where you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing manufacturing processes for new product lines. This position is based in Greenville, SC, and offers the opportunity to work with a leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 auto supplier.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop manufacturing processes for new automotive products.
  2. Specify and procure all necessary manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  3. Create and maintain process routings and establish manufacturing process metrics.
  4. Conduct detailed Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  5. Perform comprehensive manufacturing cost analysis and assist in'make or buy' decisions for component parts.
  6. Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes and reduce costs.
  7. Address technical issues related to process performance, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  8. Support the transition of products from development to production stages.
  9. Develop and implement training programs for manufacturing and maintenance staff.
  10. Establish preventive maintenance procedures and metrics.

Ergonomic Considerations

  • Work involves desk and production floor activities.
  • Requires reading reports and engaging in verbal and written communication, including phone and computer use.
  • Involves standing, walking, and sitting during an 8-hour workday.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 20 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) is required.
  • Experience in Automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 environments is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, ProEngineer, SolidWorks).
  • Experience in developing tooling and equipment specifications.
  • Proven experience with tooling and equipment vendors, including quotations, contracts, and project management.
  • Demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma or other problem-solving tools.
  • Experience in developing, monitoring, and improving complete manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with TS16949 requirements.
  • Proven track record of managing projects on schedule and under budget.
