Job Title:Mechanical (Thermal) Design Engineer

Location:Pelzer, SC

Duration : 12 Months

Job Summary:

The Mechanical (Thermal) Design Engineer will lead the design of HVAC and ventilation systems for modular Data Centers, IT, Telecom, and Industrial power modules. This role supports both engineering execution and pre-sales activities, ensuring thermal systems meet performance, safety, and local code requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design HVAC, ventilation, and cooling systems for modular data centers and power/IT modules.
• Develop equipment layouts, ductwork, cable management, fire suppression layouts, and general arrangements.
• Perform basic thermal calculations and simple CFD analysis.
• Prepare schematic, detailed, and construction drawings (SD, DD, CD).
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes (seismic, hurricane, climate, etc.).
• Coordinate with structural, electrical, BMS, and fire protection teams.
• Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and on-site integration.
• Review vendor submittals and specify mechanical components.
• Provide technical support during pre-sales, design, and construction phases.
• Travel to project sites for reviews, audits, and start-up support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal focus preferred).
• 4+ years of experience in HVAC / thermal design for data centers, telecom, or industrial facilities.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of building codes and modular facility standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Project coordination and leadership experience.
• PE license is a plus.
