Job Description

Mission Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an individual for the position of Bridge Carpenter based out of Anderson, SC responsible for assisting bridge carpenters with the construction duties, performing construction tasks as needed, and ensuring the completion of the project timely and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Shoveling dirt, sand, asphalt or concrete using shovels
  • Cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using ditch blades, sling blades, chain saws or power weed trimmers
  • Driving stakes or breaking concrete using sledge hammers, operating hand-driven compaction devices
  • Handles, stacks, and move formwork and materials
  • Keep jobsite clean and orderly by cleaning and stacking materials not in use
  • Perform shoveling, raking, and demolition work as required
  • Assist others during concrete placements, traffic control, and prefabrication tasks
  • Able to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company's policies
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in bridge construction or a similar field
  • Driving License (preferred)

Physical Demands:

  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or walk; talk or hear; and taste or smell
  • Stand and walk frequently; sit occasionally
  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device

Work Environment:

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
