The Senior Project Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the complete lifecycle of EPC or EPCM projects from conception, which may include pre-FEED and FEED efforts, through commissioning and handover. This senior level position requires strategic vision, exceptional leadership capabilities, and deep technical expertise to deliver complex infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position may also lead engineering services projects or advisory services projects including Independent Engineering reports and lender due diligence.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to executive management. Location is in our Greenville SC office. Relocation assistance will be considered.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Project Management
Lead and direct multi-disciplinary project teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
Develop and execute comprehensive project strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and client requirements
Oversee project budgets ranging from $5M to $200M, maintaining strict financial controls and profitability targets
Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, including project controls, risk management protocols and quality assurance systems
Drive continual project optimization, from work processes and tools to contracting methodologies and procedures.
Serve as the primary client interface for executive-level communications and strategic decision-making
Team Management & Development
Manage, lead, and mentor high-performing project teams of professionals across multiple disciplines
Foster collaborative relationships between internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client stakeholders
Implement talent development initiatives to enhance team capabilities and ensure succession planning
Establish clear accountability structures and performance metrics across all project functions
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks across technical, commercial, regulatory, and operational dimensions
Ensure full compliance with Company policies, best practices, industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols
Develop and execute contingency plans for critical project scenarios
Maintain comprehensive project documentation and audit trails for regulatory and client requirements
Commercial & Contract Manager
Lead contract negotiations with clients, major suppliers, and subcontractors
Manage change order processes and commercial risk allocation strategies
Oversee procurement strategies to optimize cost, schedule, and quality outcomes
Ensure project delivery within approved budgetary constraints while maximizing profitability
Business Development & Strategic Contribution
Support proposal development and execution sections of RFP responses
Lead or participate in client presentations and investor meetings
Professional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil), Construction Management, or related technical field
Master's degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or equivalent a plus
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AACE, PMP, PMI Portfolio Management) a plus
Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus
10+ years of progressive experience in EPC and/or EPCM project delivery
5+ years in project management roles with full P&L responsibility
Experience with emerging technologies, first-of-a-kind deployments, or process-intensive projects preferred
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong financial literacy and understanding of project finance structures
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Technical Competencies
Deep understanding of EPC project execution methodologies and industry best practices
Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP)
Strong financial acumen including project economics, cash flow management, and risk analysis
Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
Understanding of emerging technologies and digital project delivery tools
