Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the design and implementation of complex electrical and control systems for Daedalus Industrial's custom automation and control panel projects. This role owns electrical design from concept through commissioning, ensuring solutions are technically sound, manufacturable, and aligned with client requirements.

This position plays a key role in advancing design quality, driving EPLAN-based design automation, and supporting scalable, repeatable engineering practices. This position also provides technical mentorship to junior engineers and collaborates closely with project management, fabrication, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design Ownership & Technical Execution

  • Lead the electrical design of custom automation equipment, control panels, and integrated systems.
  • Develop complete electrical design packages including schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications, safety requirements, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, UL508A, CE).
  • Support system integration including PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
EPLAN & Design Standardization
  • Utilize EPLAN as the primary platform for electrical design and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain EPLAN libraries, macros, templates, and standardized components.
  • Drive consistency and efficiency in design package creation through standardization and automation.
  • Support company-wide initiatives for design standardization and CAD workflow optimization.
Automation & System Integration
  • Design electrical systems for custom machinery, robotic cells, and automated production equipment.
  • Collaborate with controls, motion, and mechanical engineers to ensure cohesive system design.
  • Support integration of electrical systems with SCADA, MES, and OT architectures where applicable.
  • Ensure designs enable efficient commissioning, troubleshooting, and long-term maintainability.
Fabrication & Commissioning Support
  • Collaborate with the panel shop to ensure designs are manufacturable, efficient, and aligned with build standards.
  • Support fabrication teams by resolving design issues and clarifying intent during panel builds.
  • Participate in system testing, FAT, and commissioning activities as needed.
  • Review and validate as-built documentation and ensure accuracy of final deliverables.
  • Support design-for-manufacturability initiatives in collaboration with the Industrial Engineer to improve panel build efficiency and reduce labor hours.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Electrical Engineers.
  • Review and validate design work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes and engineering workflows.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and development of internal engineering best practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical design for industrial automation or custom equipment.
  • Strong experience with control panel design and industrial automation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical design efforts on complex projects.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency with EPLAN (required).
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, HMIs, drives, sensors, and industrial communication networks.
  • Familiarity with UL508A panel design standards and electrical codes.
  • Experience with BOM development, routing, and manufacturing documentation.
