As part of the new AF Electronics piping discipline, we are excited to announce a leadership opportunity for a Piping Designers Local Department Manager (LDM). We are looking for someone who is ready to lead a highly interactive team as they design piping systems for a variety of state-of-the-artindustrial microelectronics/semiconductor facilities. This is a new and remote position that is preferred to be based in the eastern United States. This role reports directly to the Electronics Piping Global Department Manager (GDM) and is expected to be 80%-95% administrative overhead, remainder client billable, and with some limited sales/business development. Ideal candidate will be located in the Central or East Time Zone.
As the Northeast/Southeast Region Piping Designers LDM, you will take care of our piping designers in the NE/SE region of the US, which includes team members in the Pittsburgh, PA and Houston, TX area,s as well as remote staff in neighboring states. As a passionate leader, you will leverage your people management skills to help your team members discover what drives them and understand the vision for the future of the department. This position is responsible for working with the Piping GDM and other US and international team leaders to develop and implement strategy in line with the Electronics business direction and goals, including staffing, initiatives, and project delivery. In this role, you will be accountable for your team's success in meeting the client's expectations of project delivery and quality.
Team Management and Development:
• Support aligned staff career development and advancement
• Provide coaching and mentorship to identify and facilitate growth opportunities
• Conduct regular 1:1 conversations with aligned staff to maintain open communication and to provide constructive performance feedback
• Complete annual E3 performance reviews for aligned staff
• Manage human resources issues
• Conduct meetings to align collective goals, foster collaboration, encourage knowledge sharing, and drive consistent team performance
• Assess overall capabilities and identify areas for improvement for aligned staff
• Approves timesheets and expenses for aligned staff
Resource Planning & Project Assignments:
• Work with GDM and Staffing Manager to assign staff on all active projects
• Maintain staff utilization in Workforce Planning tool for aligned staff
• Consult regularly with Project Leads to identify staffing needs based on the resource loader for all active projects
• Engage global piping discipline managers to provide staff performance feedback o Global electronics designated staff
• Help GDM and Staffing Manager plan upcoming work and workload forecast
• Work with GDM and Staffing Manager to optimize financial utilization and workforce plan for delivery staff in alignment with GDC goals
• Work closely with Project Leads and Staffing Manager to estimate, forecast, and plan design change notices (DCNs)
• Evaluates and executes staff increases (hiring) or decreases (terminations) as necessary for short and long-term needs with approval from GDM
• Help onboard all new hires and Jacobs staff who are new to Electronics projects
Project Execution:
• Engage Project Leads regularly to ensure project delivery, quality, and schedule are on track
• Monitor compliance with discipline standards and provide guidance for corrective actions
• Support and advise project leads as required to improve project execution, team efficiency, and deliverables quality
• Provide GDM with regular project status reports summarizing project progress, budget, schedule, and constraints
Technical Oversight:
• Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure all technical inquiries and issues are resolved in a timely manner o Lead decision making when project QA comments need alignment and resolution
• Escalate major technical issues to GDM
• Facilitate technical discussions with SMEs and project leads on all piping design related topics Standardization, Tools, and Improvement Initiatives
• Champion maintenance and improvement of existing discipline standards, tools, and documentation
• Promote awareness of Global Electronics procedures, standards, documentation, and learning and development resources
• Drive the development of new procedures, standards, and tools to improve consistency, quality, and efficiency
• Encourage proper use of project delivery tools (e.g., Cobalt, LeanKit, Drawlist) Collaboration with Other Piping Managers:
• Work closely with GDM to identify ways to improve team performance and development
• Collaborate with Piping Engineering Manager to improve execution of tasks between piping engineering teams and pipe designers
• Engage QA Manager to ensure all QA procedures and tools are adequately implemented on all projects
• Help Staffing Manager with estimation of project work, basis of estimate, and development of estimation tools
Software Proficiency:
• Facilitate discussions on all issues related to software used by the various piping engineering teams
• Oversee implementation of any new software versions or alternative software for any given application

At least 8 years of Piping Design experience
Broad design and construction knowledge of Electronics piping systems
Familiarity with the software used in piping design
Demonstrated leadership experience and capability with medium-to-large size teams
Strong inspirational and inclusive leadership skills
Strong understanding of our methods of project/design delivery with an eye towards innovation
Strong organizational and communications skills
Ability to travel to meet teams in the region
Ideally, you'll also have:
A working knowledge of both AutoCAD and Revit
Familiarity with the tools and processes used in the Electronics Piping discipline
Exceptional listening skills
