Temporary Instructor: Anatomy and Physiology

The Department of Biological Sciences in Greenville Technical College's School of Arts and Sciences invites qualified individuals to apply for Instructor/Assistant Professor positions in General Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Terminology.

The department enrolls more than 2500 students each semester and approximately 800 students in the summer. The department employs 25 full-time faculty members, and over 20 part-time, and offers undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Genetics, Ecology, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Research in the Biological Sciences, and General Biology for majors and non-majors.

Our mission is to provide students with challenging life science curricula, quality teaching, and purposeful learning opportunities. We recognize our responsibility to provide high-quality undergraduate life science education and to offer traditional, online, and blended learning course options that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Departmental offerings meet the needs of students majoring in Associate of Arts and Sciences, as well as Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Technology, Radiologic Technology, and others in the Health and Wellness and Public Service Programs.

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the BIO-Biological Sciences department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

  • Teach lectures in Anatomy and Physiology
  • Prepare lectures/syllabi/tests
  • Grade/assess student work
  • Develop/implement new classroom strategies
  • Consult with students
  • Advise on academic progress
  • Maintain competence through continuous professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

We are currently recruiting Instructors for In Person Instruction.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Biological Sciences and 18 credit hours related to Anatomy and Physiology as defined by the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS). In accordance with HAPS guidelines, professional degrees (M.S.N, M.D., D.O., D.C., D.V.M., or other clinical degrees awarded by nationally accredited institutions) may be accepted in fulfilling the degree requirements. A professional degree must be accompanied by a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications: Competent with basic computer skills and programs, such as, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to follow directions and meet deadlines. Adheres to Departmental guidelines and policies. Have the ability to work with colleagues/students and to convey knowledge in a form that students can understand. Adaptable to students' needs, to different teaching situations, and be able to motivate students. Able to work in teams and independently. Knowledge and skills in the procedural aspects of general education and university transfer operations as they exist today. Previous teaching experience. Active license in field of if holding a professional degree.
