Dispatcher / Driver Manager

Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:30-2:30pm

Dispatcher / Driver Manager Job Summary

Responsible for the entering and exit of equipment.

Responsible for yard movement.

Responsible for the entering and exit of local deliveries and OTR trailers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following:

Other duties may be assigned.

Dispatch local carrier city and yard drivers.

Answer the ProTrans dispatch phone

Answer all questions from ProTrans Transportation Manager and SCR's

Notify ProTrans transportation personnel in a timely manner of any delays in the pick up, delivery or yard moves.

Notify ProTrans transportation personnel in a timely manner of any equipment damages or breakdowns.

Maintain dispatch and yard move logs

Maintain T card board

Time stamp all paperwork received at dispatch desk

Check all paperwork from local carrier drivers for completeness and correct dates and signatures

Receive OTR paperwork and pass out door assignments

Distribute OTR paperwork and verify carriers ID's

Track all driver locations during shift

Prepare end-of-day reports as required by ProTrans

Maintain equipment issued logs

Create and issue gate passes

Oversee red tagging of trailers

Coordinate with Dock Coordinators

Coordinate with SCR's

Coordinate with ProTrans customers for missed shipments and incorrect quantity counts

Monitor ProTrack for pickups scheduled

Responsible for updating departure times

Responsible for driver radios and work time sheets

Provide directions to drivers as required

Maintain open communication with all departments in the facility and provide accurate and timely information.

Identify and implement continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and the company.

Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of one year recent experience as a Dispatcher in an LTL Transportation environment.

Language Skills:

Bilingual in English and Spanish. Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write in English and routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

High School Diploma or GED

Forklift Certified

Other Skills And Abilities:

Must be computer literate and have past office experience in Microsoft package including Email, Word and Excel. Some Data Entry may be required.
