Overview of Responsibilities

As a Self-Checkout Customer Service Associate, you will be the welcoming face of our business, ensuring that customers have a fantastic experience as they use our self-checkout systems.

• Oversee self-checkout units, ensuring a delightful experience for all customers through quick and friendly assistance.
• Help customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for their items, making the transaction process smooth and easy.
• Manage multiple customer interactions simultaneously and anticipate challenges before they arise.
• Resolve questions and issues regarding large items, scanning or payment difficulties, and more.
• Monitor scanning activity for accuracy.
• Encourage customers to use self-checkout lanes, especially when wait times increase in other areas.
• Stay updated on store promotions, weekly ads, and events; guide customers to product locations.
• Ensure that self-checkout areas are clean, organized, and ready for customer use, along with performing other assigned duties.
• Express gratitude to customers as they exit the self-checkout area.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in retail, customer service, or sales preferred, with 1-2 years of cashier experience being ideal.
• Maintain a positive attitude and effectively engage with customers.
• Comfortable operating front-end equipment such as registers, calculators, and scanners.
• Be reliable and flexible with your schedule, ready to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to take direction and function well within a team.
• Ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 30 lbs. and maneuver grocery carts as required.
• Strong attention to detail with good mathematical and cash handling skills.
