Leadership In Training

The Leader in Training will be a recent college graduate joining a one-year program to learn and train in each division within The Budd Group. The goal is to expose individuals to all sides of the business, including operations, management, customer and employee relations, HR, accounting, and sales. During training, specific responsibilities will range from hands-on work with frontline employees to administrative duties. In addition, training will involve sales and operations exposure. The Leader in Training will be assigned specific learning objectives each quarter with measurable outcomes. Upon completion of the program, the desired outcome would be to place individuals into a suitable position.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on work in janitorial, landscape, and specialty services, including sweeping and mopping, cleaning bathrooms, pulling trash, mowing lawns, mulching, pruning, planting, pressure washing, painting, construction clean-up, etc.
  • Learning and operating different equipment needed for frontline tasks.
  • Learning and conducting management functions to include scheduling work and employees, reviewing timesheets, job tracking, and crew management.
  • Learning and conducting audits to inspect work for completion and quality.
  • Learning about accounting functions, including AR, AP, and budget management.
  • Learning and conducting sales activities to include prospecting, cold calling, documenting, creating proposals and quotes, as well as presentation skills.
  • Learning and conducting HR activities, including interviewing, sending offer letters, reviewing background checks, conducting drug tests, onboarding candidates, and coaching/counseling procedures.
  • Learning retention and engagement strategies and implementation.
  • Attending job fairs and meeting with community partners to source candidates.
  • Documenting all activities in our learning management system to keep track of training completion throughout the year.

Required:

  • Recent college graduate with up to one year of post-graduation
  • Must be willing to commit to a one-year program starting in June and ending in May
  • Must be able and willing to work in a highly physical role in an indoor/outdoor setting
  • Must be flexible in work schedule to include evenings and some weekends
