The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Wofford College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology to begin in August 2026. We seek an engaging teacher-scholar with expertise in medical sociology who is excited to work with undergraduate students in a liberal arts setting and contribute to a dynamic, collaborative campus community.
Key responsibilities include teaching Introduction to Sociology, upper-level theory and research methods courses, and developing classes in their own areas of expertise that complement both the department and the general education curriculum. Applicants should have an active research agenda in medical sociology, health and illness, the social organization of health care delivery, differential access to medical resources, or related topics. Tenure expectations require faculty to demonstrate excellence in teaching, advising, scholarship, and service, in accordance with College and Department-specific guidelines. The course load is 3-1-3, where the "1" refers to the January "Interim" course. A PhD in sociology is required by appointment. Letters of recommendation will be solicited during the interview stage.
