Mechatronics is high-tech problem solving. When a line is down in a plant, hundreds of thousands of dollars are at stake each hour. The technician is on the job to see that doesn't happen or if it does, that the interruption is very brief. As a key player in the whole production operation, the position is well-respected and well paid. In fact, the average starting salary is around $38,500 for Greenville Technical College graduates, and the money only increases from there. The Mechatronics Technology A.A.S. program combines the technologies areas of Mechatronics certificates I and II with additional general educational requirements to insure that program graduates are professionally prepared as entry-level industrial maintenance technicians capable of making significant contributions in manufacturing facilities in the area. The student will develop basic foundational skills and understanding in electrical and mechanical control systems. As of the spring 2018 semester there were 305 students enrolled, with 7 full-time faculty plus supplemental adjunct instructors. Program options include Mechatronics Technology Concentration - Associate in Applied Science; - Certificate in Applied Science; Mechatronics I.

Minimum qualifications: An associate degree with two (2) years of experience within the Industrial Maintenance field or have an Associate degree in a related field of Mechanical or Electrical; OR a high school diploma or GED with two (2) years in a laboratory environment and classroom setting utilizing their knowledge of PLC, Mechanical Power, Sensors, & Robotics AC/DC Drives
Preferred qualifications: State-of-the-art knowledge in electro-mechanical field to include PLCs. Ability to work with colleagues-students, convey knowledge in-a-form students can understand, and be able to adapt teaching techniques to student needs-various instructional setting. Ability to work independently as well as within a group and be able to motivate students. Willingness to teach at all campus-off campus sites.
