Position: Machine Builder / Assembler

Hourly Rate: $27.00 – $36.00 depending on experience Contract: Permanent, full-time (40hrs/week, additional hours available)

Before You Apply — Please Read

Our client runs a tight, skilled operation and hires carefully. They have a clearly defined picture of who they need, and applications that fall outside that picture will not move forward. This is not a role where exceptions are made.

You must hold full, unrestricted US work authorisation to be considered. Our client does not provide visa sponsorship under any circumstances, and no application — however strong — will change that position. If you need sponsorship now or in the future, this opportunity is not for you.

What the Job Involves

A well-established custom automation company in Greer, SC is looking for a skilled and experienced Machine Builder / Assembler to join their production team on a permanent basis.

The right person for this job builds machines — not operates them. You'll be working directly from technical drawings, schematics, and parts lists to assemble complex custom automated equipment, integrating mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with precision and care.

This is hands-on, skilled work that requires genuine build experience. If your background is primarily in production line assembly, machine operation, maintenance, fabrication, or CNC, this role is not the right fit.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble custom automated machinery and subassemblies from mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and parts lists
  • Work accurately using precision measurement tools — calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches — to hit build specifications first time
  • Install and integrate pneumatic and hydraulic systems as part of the machine assembly process
  • Carry out quality checks and verify completed assemblies against specification
  • Work independently from job cards and work orders while keeping to project timelines
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to flag and resolve build issues
  • Support machine testing, documentation, and preparation for customer shipment
  • Travel to customer sites to support installation and commissioning when required
  • Keep your workspace clean, organised, and compliant with safety requirements at all times

You Must Be Able to Demonstrate All of the Following

  • Full, unrestricted authorisation to work in the United States — no sponsorship, no exceptions
  • A solid background in hands-on machine building or custom equipment assembly
  • Confidence reading and working from mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and BOMs
  • Practical experience with hand tools and precision measuring equipment
  • Exposure to pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems within a build environment
  • High School Diploma or GED as a minimum
  • Physical capability to lift up to 35 lbs and carry out sustained manual work
  • Good mechanical aptitude, fine motor skills, and a strong eye for detail
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel to customer sites when the job demands it

If your experience sits primarily in machine operation, production assembly, welding, fabrication, or CNC, please do not apply — your application will not be taken forward.

Desirable Background

  • Time served in custom machine building or automation system integration
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical inspection methods
  • Involvement in machine commissioning, FAT/SAT, or customer site installations
  • Military service in a relevant mechanical, electrical, or maintenance trade

The Working Environment

You'll be based full-time at the company's Greer, SC facility, with occasional travel to customer sites for installation or service work. The environment is a busy, professional production shop where safety standards are taken seriously. Project pressures may mean overtime, including evenings or weekends from time to time.
