Position Summary: As a Mechanical Fabricator at Daedalus Industrial, you will play a crucial role in fabricating and assembling mechanical components and structures according to engineering drawings and specifications. Your expertise in metalworking, welding, and fabrication techniques will contribute to the successful production of our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication and Assembly:

    • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to fabricate mechanical components and structures.
    • Use various metalworking tools and equipment, such as saws, drills, lathes, and milling machines, to shape and form metal parts.
    • Perform welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components according to specifications.
    • Assemble fabricated parts into mechanical assemblies or finished products, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
  • Material Handling and Preparation:

    • Select and prepare materials, including metal stock, sheet metal, and tubing, for fabrication and welding processes.
    • Cut, bend, and shape metal using shears, press brakes, and other forming equipment.
    • Perform grinding, sanding, and finishing operations to achieve desired surface smoothness and appearance.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
    • Identify and address any defects or discrepancies in fabrication or welding processes.
    • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of workmanship and product integrity.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Operate fabrication and welding equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the fabrication area, including proper storage of materials and equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including material usage, work performed, and hours worked.
    • Report any issues, concerns, or suggestions for process improvement to the supervisor or management team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical fabrication, welding, and assembly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of metalworking techniques, including cutting, bending, shaping, and welding.
  • Experience with a variety of fabrication tools and equipment, such as saws, drills, lathes, milling machines, and welding machines is preferred.
  • Welding certification(s) is preferred (e.g., AWS, ASME).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Capable of operating heavy machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling and manipulating materials and tools.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
