Overview

We are seeking a Tech Lead with strong fundamentals in Java, debugging, and large-scale application refactoring. This role involves navigating a complex legacy codebase, performing framework and version migrations, and ensuring functional stability through systematic testing and collaboration.

Must-Have Skills

Core Engineering & Problem Solving
• Ability to understand unfamiliar code and large legacy systems
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
• Knowledge of dependency management and resolving version conflicts
• Fast learner with strong research and pattern-recognition skills
• Ability to break down large problems and know when to seek help

Technical Fundamentals
• Strong Java X+ knowledge
• Solid understanding of Spring Framework and Hibernate/JPA concepts
• Proficiency in SQL, relational database fundamentals
• Familiarity with Gradle and build pipelines
• Solid understanding of testing concepts (JUnit, mocking, test structure)

Soft Skills
• Patience, attention to detail, and discipline
• Clear communication and comfort with ambiguity
• Risk awareness and ability to document decisions effectively

Testing Mindset
• Ability to write meaningful unit and integration tests
• Healthy skepticism-knows that "compiling" isn't the same as "working"

AI Collaboration
• Ability to use AI tools effectively for research and guidance
• Critical thinking to validate and challenge AI outputs

Nice-to-Have Experience
• Java 11/17/21, Gradle X/X, Spring X, Hibernate X, JUnit X
• Javax → Jakarta migration experience
• Large-scale refactoring or modernization projects
• Experience with AI tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude)
• Familiarity with Prophet application
