Accounting Specialist (Hybrid Remote)

This position allows for 3 days per week remote / work from home.

Salary: $80,000 -100,000/year

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing small business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands?on environment and has strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, supporting month?end close, and assisting leadership with financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.
  • Assist with month?end and year?end close processes.
  • Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain organized accounting documentation and audit?ready files.
  • Excel?Based Analysis & Data Management
  • Create and maintain advanced Excel workbooks for reporting and analysis.
  • Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX?MATCH, and other formulas to analyze large datasets.
  • Develop automated templates and spreadsheets to improve reporting efficiency.
  • Clean, organize, and reconcile exported data from accounting or ERP systems.
  • Assist with audit preparation and external CPA requests.
  • Support tax filings and regulatory reporting as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow efficiencies.

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (public or industry).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, nested formulas, data validation).
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small?company environment.
