Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their well?established, mission?driven healthcare organization serving communities across the Carolinas. Essential Duties & Functions

• Assist the Director of Finance in overseeing daily accounting operations and supporting a positive, high?performing work environment.
• Support month?end close, including preparation of financial reports, reconciliations, and review of general ledger entries.
• Supervise the Accounts Payable Administrator and Senior Cash Receipts Specialist.
• Manage cash functions including day?to?day cash projections, bank reconciliations, and credit card oversight.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Prepare internal reports and analytics that highlight trends and support leadership decision?making.
• Support external audit processes and maintain current financial policies and procedures.
• Facilitate training and cross?training for accounting team members and help strengthen internal controls.
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to deadlines within a fast?paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a changing environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work well in a team?focused culture.
• Experience in healthcare or multi?entity environments is a plus but not required.
