Marketing Associate Director

Employment Type: Freelance

We are seeking a freelance Marketing Associate Director (Marketing Way) to lead and advance an enterprise-level Marketing Way program. This role is responsible for brand stewardship and governance of Marketing Way across employees, agencies, and partners. You will champion a culture of marketing and brand excellence by driving adoption of the tools, systems, and processes that protect, strengthen, and scale the brand.

In this position, you will ensure marketing teams and external partners have clear standards, frameworks, and best practices to deliver high-performing, on-brand marketing, creative, and content that supports business growth.

Primary Responsibilities

Brand Leadership
Act as a senior leader within brand stewardship, collaborating with marketing, communications, production, and operations teams to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities. Provide strategic guidance and support across initiatives to ensure consistent application of brand principles and Marketing Way standards.

Marketing Way Program Ownership
Lead end-to-end management of the Marketing Way program, including scope, timelines, and budget. Build and maintain a comprehensive project charter with clear decision milestones, executive stakeholder engagement plans, and measurable outcomes. Ensure effective governance and on-time delivery of program enhancements.
Marketing Way Training & Enablement
Design and execute a structured training and enablement strategy to drive adoption of Marketing Way across internal teams and external partners. Develop training curricula, toolkits, and self-service resources; coordinate delivery via live sessions, virtual workshops, and on-demand learning.
Marketing Best Practices & Frameworks
Evaluate and evolve existing marketing practices with a future-focused, customer-centric lens. Lead the development, refresh, and optimization of best practices, frameworks, and playbooks that improve marketing quality, effectiveness, and brand impact.
Change Management & Adoption
Drive enterprise-wide adoption of Marketing Way through proactive stakeholder engagement. Implement change management, communication, and reinforcement plans to build awareness, encourage desired behaviors, and track adherence across all marketing teams, agencies, and partners.
Marketing Way & AI Integration
Lead planning, design, and rollout of Marketing Way and AI-enabled tools. Ensure solutions align with marketing technology capabilities, governance standards, and brand requirements. Partner with marketing technology, data, and operations teams to pilot, refine, and scale AI solutions that improve consistency, efficiency, and impact of marketing work.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in marketing or communications
• Experience in both B2C and B2B marketing environments
• 10+ years managing communication and alignment with diverse business partners (e.g., senior leaders, sales leaders, technical partners)
• Demonstrated experience in campaign management or campaign development
• Proven experience executing multi-channel projects (e.g., web, email, content, digital)
• Experience leading marketing projects from concept through in-market execution
• Experience communicating performance and business results across channels and leadership levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the health care or highly regulated industries
• Brand marketing experience, including brand governance or brand stewardship
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate project needs, define clear plans, and communicate effectively to stakeholders
• Strategic mindset with the ability to stay current on industry and marketing trends and apply insights to daily work
• Strong writing and storytelling skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and quality
