The Manual Machinist will set up, adjust and operate machine shop tools, primarily lathes, optical comparators and other quality assurance inspection equipment to verify plated product profile accuracy according to print specifications.- Apply general knowledge of machining methods and techniques. Use precision measuring instruments to verify conformity to print specifications.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Reads and interprets work orders, work instructions, drawings and specifications.
-Sets up and operates specified machines, making machine adjustments where necessary to produce required results.
-Inspects test coupons and parts, using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
-Performs tasks as requested by manager/supervisor
-Maintain accurate records and logs of work performed, materials usage and results.
-Follows all company policies, safety procedures including the wearing of required protective equipment.
High school diploma or accredited equivalent.
Technical school training, apprenticeship program or its equivalency is preferred.
Must possess skills and knowledge in the set-up , adjustment and operation of machine shop equipments.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, comparator charts, drawings and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary to understand basic GD&T and utilize shop math and measuring instruments is required.
Knowledge- of and adherence to Quality Policy and SOP's will be part of daily routine.
Must be able to read and interpret basic geometry on part prints.
Willing to work overtime as needed.
