The Express Underwriter position is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing Express (1-10) commercial automobile risks. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining a book of business with assigned general agent partners while meeting profitability and revenue goals.
Select new & renewal risks by validating submission information, utilizing multiple analytics tools, reviewing coverage, and negotiating pricing and terms.
Ensure pricing targets, profitability goals, and growth expectations are met.
Actively monitor portfolio by taking KPI's and assessing information as it emerges throughout the policy term.
Maintain policies by evaluating endorsements that add, delete, or modify coverage. Communicate effectively with the support staff who process these endorsements.
Maintain agent relationships through superior customer service, effective communication, and agency visits promoting profitable growth.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor's degree in related field or commensurate experience required.
Minimum of three years experience in underwriting required with exposure to commercial auto preferred. Basic understanding of exposure identification, evaluation, quantification, and classification required. Basic understanding of application of proper rates and ability to analyze rate adequacy required. Intermediate computer skills (Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, e-mail) required.
Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping is required. There will be occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Heavy use of computer and office equipment required.
Occasional travel required. Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
