Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to meet the challenges of energy resiliency and decarbonization, striving for a cleaner, more secure energy future. We are looking for a senior-level electrical engineer to take on a pivotal role in our Gainesville, FL office.

This position presents a unique opportunity to mentor junior and mid-level electrical engineering staff while collaborating with clients to deliver outstanding services in the energy sector. Your responsibilities will also encompass strategy formation, business development, and sales as we broaden our energy transition portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Engage with clients to assess their energy needs and develop concept-level plans and solutions.
  • Guide your team through detailed design and execution of the solutions.
  • Provide advisory services and engineering design solutions across various market sectors.
  • Work alongside Client Account Managers and sales professionals on strategic pursuits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering design and/or consulting.
  • Professional Engineering licensure in any US state, with the ability to obtain licenses in additional states as needed.
  • Experience building client relationships and delivering innovative solutions that provide mutual value.
  • Demonstrated involvement in business development strategies, including identifying new project opportunities.
  • Familiarity with proposal development and project execution planning.
  • A passion for mentoring junior technical staff.
  • Exceptional communication and technical writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary (typically less than 50%).
  • Availability to work at least 2 days per week in our Gainesville, FL office when not traveling.

Additional highly regarded qualifications include experience with:

  • Power distribution systems and microgrids.
  • Power generation projects exceeding 10MW capacity.
  • HV or MV substations.
  • Renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, etc.).
  • Energy storage systems.
  • Power system modeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar software.
  • Protection and Control, SCADA, or power system automation.
  • Campus utility master planning or climate response planning.
  • Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems.
  • Thermal utility plants and distribution systems.
