Position Overview

As a Senior Water Damage Technician, you will possess specialized expertise in the drying and restoration of water-damaged residential, commercial, and industrial properties. You will act as a vital resource for BELFOR on local, regional, and national levels. Your skills will encompass electronics and machinery management, document preservation, specialized drying techniques, and assessing extensive property damage to devise optimal drying strategies using heat and desiccant systems. Strong practical knowledge of electrical demands for drying equipment and temporary energy requirements is essential. You will utilize plans and blueprints and have familiarity with HVAC systems to enhance drying effectiveness. In critical situations, you will lead multiple teams and assume considerable production responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct teams on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for each job.
  • Oversee daily project requirements, documenting progress and communicating any challenges to management.
  • Provide thorough field documentation, including photographic evidence, charts, and sketches for various Total Property Alliance (TPA) projects.
  • Create precise sketches, interpret plans and floor layouts, maintain humidity content records, and complete drying data logs.
  • Calculate moisture loads within a building, assess affected areas, and request additional resources for large-scale water loss projects.
  • Evaluate power requirements for drying equipment, establish connections using 220/110 converters, and prepare for temporary power solutions.
  • Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and upkeep.
  • Maintain a keen attention to detail.
  • Adhere strictly to BELFOR standards to protect client properties.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and apply best practices.
  • Work efficiently under tight deadlines to accomplish project goals.
  • Be prepared for periodic travel, including night and weekend shifts.
  • Timely report work hours and track equipment and material usage accurately.
  • Participate in BELFOR operations and complete necessary safety training.

Requirements

  • Supervise and independently conduct basic and intermediate water damage tasks.
  • Handle all responsibilities related to large loss sites or specialized remediation challenges.
  • Utilize provided tools and knowledge to create moisture maps effectively.
  • Oversee multiple crews engaged in various projects simultaneously.
  • Choose appropriate disposal methods and secure liability releases for disposed items.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of IICRC S500 Water Damage Standard.
  • Familiarity with IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard.
  • Hold a current IICRC ASD certification.
  • Exhibit expertise with the BELFOR Water Damage manual.
  • Proficiently operate necessary meters and IR cameras, along with an understanding of affected versus unaffected materials.
  • Demonstrated ability in air mover calculations, LGR dehumidification charts, and electrical power specifications.
  • Expert in using equipment like HydroSensor, Thermal Hygrometer, and NavPro Moisture Meter for data recording.
  • Experience with building environments, thermodynamics, and psychrometry.
  • Eligible to drive a motor vehicle in accordance with BELFOR's policy.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency, maintain professionalism, exhibit a positive attitude, and demonstrate a solid work ethic.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Physical Demands

Physical activities include frequent lifting of over 50 lbs, occasional assistance lifting from 41 lbs, navigating tight spaces, and enduring extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling. Ability to use mobile devices for data collection is also required.
