Accounts Payable Clerk

Description:

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing vendor invoices, matching purchase orders and receiving documents, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of plant expenses. This role supports daily plant operations by maintaining organized financial records, communicating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and code vendor invoices accurately and timely
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents (3-way match)
  • Verify pricing, quantities, and approvals for plant-related purchases
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare weekly or bi-weekly check runs and electronic payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Maintain organized accounts payable files and documentation
  • Assist with month-end closing and account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements
  • Work closely with purchasing, receiving, and plant management to resolve invoice issues
  • Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in accounting or business preferred
  • 1-3 years of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing or food processing environment a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced plant environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
Physical & Work Environment
  • Office-based role within a production plant environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer
  • Occasional overtime may be required during month-end or audits
