Position Summary:

The Associate Therapist works in a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing treatment services according to the Professional Psychiatric Services under DBH. Associate Therapist responsibilities include providing therapy services, leading therapy groups, facilitating clinical assessments, conducting individual sessions, and other tasks as detailed below. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping those in need and will find joy in being at the heart of a positive, professional culture. They will enjoy talking to clients and enjoy supporting their staff in doing the same. Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures clinical documentation is completed with PPS division policy guidelines
  • Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families/loved ones.
  • Delivers 15-20 hours of direct client hours each week to outpatient clients.
  • Facilitates intensive outpatient program groups 3 times a week
  • Facilitates admission assessments and the admission process for new patients with professionalism, courtesy, and a welcoming attitude.
  • Clinical supervision as required.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings and communicates patient treatment goals with all team members as needed.
  • Maintains regular close supervision as required for licensure
  • Completes appropriate number of therapy sessions weekly for patients, including family/support system sessions aligned with the patients' level of care.
  • Provides utilization reviews to insurance companies, providing appropriate clinical information to obtain initial authorization and continuing stay authorization, as necessary.
  • Communicates with the billing department to provide information about services rendered as therapy.
  • Participates in research planning, analysis, development, and presentation.
  • Provides training and support to clinical care coordinator as needed.
  • Actively participates in prior authorizations and utilization review for TMS, Spravato, and medications
  • Assists with accreditation and credentialing efforts as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Office Manager to complete tasks related as requested.
  • Supports the development of new therapeutic initiatives and programs as needed.
  • Advocate for clients when necessary
  • Refer patients across Discovery Behavioral Health brands and service lines as clinically indicated
  • Consult on potential referrals filtering into practice from other Discovery Behavioral Health brands as clinically indicated
  • Back up technician for TMS and Spravato as necessary
  • Therapeutic intervention for patients undergoing Spravato and Esketamine treatment
  • Providing integrative therapy for patients undergoing services withing practice
  • Other various duties as assigned
Core Competencies:
  • Knowledge of the diagnosis for a variety of metal health concerns across an array of populations
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods and modalities of behavioral health
  • Ability to readily establish rapport with client populations.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Skills to build positive professional rapport with colleagues and representatives of other agencies
  • Collaborate and communicate directly and effectively in a cooperative manner
  • Knowledge of basic ethical considerations in field
  • Ability to work toward and be sensitive to culturally competent practices
  • Ability to work primarily autonomously; however, utilize consultation when necessary.
Knowledge, Education, & Experience:
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in relevant field, required
  • Completion of state requirements to obtain provisional licensure and later state clinical license to conduct therapeutic interventions required
  • Obtain BLS, CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
  • Must possess a current driver's license and be in good standing

  • Engages in sustained power grasping and pushing/pulling motions

  • Hand/eye coordination: Performing work using both
  • Working with hands: Seizing, holding, and grasping
  • Able to lift by raising or lowering an object from one level to another
  • The ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, which may involve running or moving rapidly.
  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods, often throughout the entire shift.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety and PPE protocols.


Arbitration Agreement:

As a condition of employment, all candidates must agree to and sign a pre-employment arbitration agreement. This agreement requires that any disputes arising out of or related to employment with Discovery Practice Management will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than through litigation in court.

Employment Status: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday hours vary

Work Location: Hybrid Orange, CA

Compensation: Pay Range: $65,000 - $90,000 per year depending upon education, experience and licensure
