A leading architecture and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Specification Writer to support a diverse team of design professionals across projects in science and technology, commercial, higher education, and the performing arts. This role will lead the writing and management of architectural specifications and assist in shaping design quality through expert technical documentation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead specification writing and management for multiple architectural and engineering projects
  
• Develop and maintain company-wide master specifications
  
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and designers to integrate materials, systems, and constructability best practices
  
• Provide technical guidance and participate in QA/QC reviews
  
• Research materials and products to ensure appropriate integration in design documents
  
• Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices
  
• Support project teams with technical advice, shop drawing reviews, and product substitution assessments
  
• Act as a resource for risk management related to design documentation

Required Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in specification development (more than 10 years highly encouraged to apply)
  
• Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  
• Self-driven and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project)
  
• Experience with specification software such as Speclink (preferred)
  
• Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) is a plus
  
• Architectural license is a plus

Remote Option: Available if residing in Wisconsin or Northern Illinois
Term: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000/year, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flex time available)
Work Environment: Hybrid (in-office + work-from-home)
