Position SummaryThe Construction Laborer performs a variety of physical tasks on highway and heavy construction projects. Duties include site preparation, manual labor, operation of hand and power tools, and assistance with grading, paving, excavation, and material handling. The role requires following all safety procedures to protect both workers and the public, maintaining clean and hazard-free job sites, and working in coordination with equipment operators and other crew members.Key Duties & Responsibilities* Perform manual labor for highway and heavy construction projects, including digging holes, trenches, and ditches; mixing concrete; and setting braces to support excavations.** Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into designated areas.** Fine grade fill to specified grades as directed by the foreman.** Assist with patching asphalt using hot and cold mix.** Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.** Maintain a clean and organized job site, securing tools and equipment daily to prevent hazards.** Handle and store materials safely.** Load and unload trucks, haul, and hoist materials.** Signal equipment operators to assist with machine alignment, movement, and adjustments.*Follow safety and incident reporting procedures, alerting the Foreman, Safety Director, or HR Manager of any hazards or issues.
