The Staff Accountant (Accounts Payable) is responsible for managing all accounts payable activities. They directly support the Accounting Manager, supervising a team of Accounts Payable Specialists, ensuring accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices, maintaining financial records, and supporting month-end closing activities. The role requires strong command of basic accounting principles, proficiency with Excel, and effective communication with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate with vendors and internal parties to resolve accounts payable issues
• Determine appropriate accounting treatment of transactions
• Assist AP Specialists to verify vendor invoices for accuracy, proper approval, 3-way matching, and correct coding
• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (ACH, wire, checks)
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or disputes
• Record transactions in the general ledger
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including accruals and reconciliations
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
• Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payments and invoices
• Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Take on other accounting projects and tasks as needed
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2-5 years of experience in accounting roles, with accounts payable exposure
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a high-volume AP environment
• Knowledge of sales and use tax

• Office or hybrid work setting
• May require extended hours during month-end or year-end close
