Key Responsibilities

  • Specimen Management: Receive, sort, and label patient specimens for lab processing; check-in and accurately document samples.
  • Input daily charges for specimens into Epic EMR.
  • Retrieve lab results from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and enter them into Epic for clinician review and patient records.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain and organize patient and business documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all privacy regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist the general supervisor and lab techs to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while staying in scope.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, COLA and CLIA guidelines in all administrative and laboratory processes.
  • Office Procedures: Perform general administrative duties and operate medical office equipment with proficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor compliance with internal quality programs, laboratory requirements, and patient result tracking.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Administrative Assistant certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical or healthcare office setting preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR); Epic experience strongly preferred.
