divh2Geologist/h2pLocation: Greenville, SC / Aiken, SC / Idaho Falls, ID/ppNorth Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services, including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response, regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management./ppstrongPosition Purpose:/strong This Geologist shall provide support for our environmental investigation and remediation projects across the country. Primary responsibilities will be to support environmental projects at the DOE facilities across the country (I.E. Savannah River Site SC, Los Alamos NM), DOD customers, USACE customers, and private sector customers. Must have experience with a variety of soil/groundwater sampling techniques, drilling oversight including lithologic logging, and CERCLA and RCRA remedial investigations/remedial actions. Candidate must be able to work independently as the lead geologist in the field at the project site. Candidate must have strong verbal skill to communicate with client and project stakeholders. Travel required 50-80%./ppstrongEssential Duties and Responsibilities:/strong/pulliField duties will include DPT and rotosonic drilling oversight of investigative and remedial projects./liliOffice duties will include data analysis and field summary report writing./liliExtended overnight travel and the ability to obtain a federal site badge are required./liliManage all field geological aspects of environmental projects for federal and state government, and commercial clients./liliResponsible for management of project documents./liliOrganize and lead project teams in the successful completion of project tasks./liliParticipate in field efforts as needed to support the successful execution of projects./liliAnalyzing project needs and establishing appropriate project priorities./liliAnalyzing and evaluating technical environmental data to ensure completeness and accuracy./liliAssisting in developing more junior staff in technical and consulting excellence./li/ulpstrongAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:/strong/pulliCollect data and samples in accordance with approved procedures./liliCollects and documents soil, air, and/or water samples to determine presence and quantity of contaminates./liliPrepares sample for testing, records in situ data, and logs daily activities./liliField duties will include Direct Push Technology, Hollow Stem Auger, and Roto-Sonic drilling rig oversight./liliOffice duties include data management and documentation organization./liliParticipate in field efforts as needed to support the successful execution of projects./li/ulpstrongMinimum Qualifications:/strong strongEducation and Experience:/strong/pulliBachelors Degree in a geology, environmental science or a geological related field/liliMust have a minimum of 5 years of related geology experience in the environmental field./liliExperience with soil/groundwater sampling, drilling oversight including lithologic logging, and CERCLA and RCRA remedial investigations/remedial actions./liliKnowledge and experience with drilling oversight including soil borings, monitoring well installations, and monitoring well abandonments./liliKnowledge and experience with various media (e.g., soil, soil vapor, groundwater), contaminant types, and standard operating procedures for investigation and corrective action./liliDemonstrated, substantial experience writing technical plans and reports for regulatory review./li/ulpstrongSkills and Abilities:/strong/pulliAbility to manage field projects with extensive customer contact./liliAble to manage field subcontractors./liliExcellent interpersonal skills; work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, and clients, as well as outside business associates./liliStrong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from clients, managers, staff and the general public./liliAbility to utilize multiple word-processing and database applications including MS Office applications Word, Excel, and Access./liliDemonstrated ability to work accurately, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks./liliExcellent proof-reading and writing skills./liliHigh degree of sensitivity regarding confidential client and employee information./liliAbility to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, work under pressure, and capable of prioritizing workload./li/ulpstrongSpecial Requirements:/strong/pulliMust pass pre-employment background check./liliMust pass pre-employment drug testing./liliMust have a valid driver license./liliAbility to drive a pick-up truck and/or transit van./lili40 Hour HAZWOPER with 8-hour refresher./liliAbility to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card./li/ulpstrongPreferred Qualifications:/strong/pulliExperience working on projects for Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, or other federal agencies./liliWorking knowledge of the CERCLA and/or RCRA regulatory processes for facility investigation and corrective action./liliOSHA 30 Hour/li/ulpstrongPhysical Demands:/strong While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is normally mild to moderate. The employee will be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
