Description:

An employer is seeking a Power Systems Application Developer to join their team in the Austin, TX area. He or she will be joining the Grid Management Solutions organization to help to build and maintain advanced Energy Management Systems (EMS). The Power Systems Developer will enhance existing applications to support new requirements, protocol changes, and improvements for grid reliability and market efficiency operations by using C++, Java, Python and Perl. He or she will participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development best practices and standards, implement power flows, contingency analysis, and frequency control, work with Oracle/SQL and proprietary databases and help enhance EMS vendor products/develop system interfaces. This role is fully remote if outside of the Austin area and the hourly pay rate ranges from $70 - $80/hr depending on experience and feedback from the client.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience in Power Systems Engineering or related field

3+ years of hands-on software development experience with enterprise applications in C++ (primary), Java, or Python

Experience with energy management systems (EMS) and SCADA applications

Knowledge of power system protocols and communication standards (ICCP, DNP3, IEC 61850)

Ability to quickly ramp up on existing codebases and complex power systems applications

Hands on experience writing SQL queries

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with GE Grid E-terra
