The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Medical Economics is a strategic leader responsible for driving financial performance through advanced healthcare cost analysis, network performance analytics, monthly claims liability reserving, and payor & provider contracting analytics and economic strategy. This role oversees the development of medical cost forecasts, risk adjustment methodologies, and value-based care financial models to support organizational growth and sustainability. The AVP partners with executive leadership, clinical operations, and actuarial teams to ensure data-driven decisions that optimize medical spend and improve population health outcomes.

You will focus on:

  • Strategic Leadership & Oversight
    • Lead the Medical Economics function, setting vision, priorities, and performance standards.
    • Manage a team of analysts and managers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Financial Strategy & Modeling
    • Develop and oversee medical cost forecasting, trend analysis, and risk adjustment strategies.
    • Provide executive-level insights on cost drivers, utilization patterns, and program ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Clinical, and Network teams to align economic strategies with organizational goals.
    • Support negotiations for provider contracts and value-based arrangements with financial impact analysis.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal financial controls.
    • Maintain data integrity and accuracy across multiple systems and reporting platforms.
The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring
  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Public Health, or related field (MBA or MPH preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare finance, medical economics, or actuarial analysis, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Expertise in healthcare reimbursement models, risk adjustment, and population health economics.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI) and statistical modeling (SAS, R, Python).
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience in health plan or integrated delivery system settings.
  • Strong understanding of value-based care and alternative payment models.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organizational change through data-driven insights.
The Base Salary for this position is $240,000/year
