Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled DCS Software Engineer to join our team supporting critical operations at the Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant in Baltimore, MD. This role involves both project development and field service responsibilities focused on programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with ABB 800xA or similar platforms and the ability to work independently on both new implementations and service-related issues. The position is expected to convert to a permanent role within six months, but we are open to direct hire for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and configure control logic and HMI displays within ABB DCS 800xA, including writing new control code from scratch.
  
• Troubleshoot control system issues at the plant level, ensuring minimal downtime.
  
• Work on both the project side (remote, focused on design/programming) and service side (onsite, supporting plant operations).
  
• Assist in implementing new automation processes and systems at wastewater treatment facilities.
  
• Coordinate with plant staff and internal engineers to ensure successful system integration.
  
• Maintain accurate documentation of control systems, changes, and updates.

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with ABB DCS 800xA or similar Distributed Control Systems.
  
• Strong programming skills and experience with HMI development within a DCS platform.
  
• Ability to troubleshoot and support DCS in live plant environments.
  
• Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid role, reporting onsite to the Patapsco WWTP as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  
• Prior experience in water/wastewater plant automation.
  
• Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs and integration into DCS environments.

Additional Details:

• Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
  
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. - no visa sponsorship is available.
  
• Initial interview includes an online software assessment (not pass/fail), followed by a TEAMS interview and potential onsite meeting in Baltimore.
  
• Must pass a background check; drug screen TBD.
  
• Field attire or polo shirts required based on site conditions.

Job Title: DCS Software Engineer

Pay Rate: $48-$55/hr (Based on experience and education)
Term: Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire (Flexible depending on candidate)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (occasional field hours as needed)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - Onsite at wastewater treatment facilities with remote work for project-based tasks
