JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Banquet Captain

Reports to: Banquet Manager, Private Events Manager

Supervises: Banquet Server(s), Banquet Bartender(s)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Banquet Captain position is a hands-on position responsible for overseeing the banquet function of private events ensuring the proper execution of the banquet event order, leading, and directing banquet staff, and maintaining contact with the event host.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures member and/or guest satisfaction
  • Conduct banquet staff lineup before event
  • Assign staff duties and side work for upcoming events
  • Trains and evaluates banquet staff
  • Coordinates and supervises catered events based on members specifications and documented in the Banquet Event Order
  • Works with the Food and Beverage Leadership Team and others to coordinate personnel requirements for private functions
  • Effectively and regularly communicates expectations and service goals to staff
  • Coordinates setup, operation, and breakdown of assigned private events according to standards
  • Supervises and directs banquet staff during all phases of events
  • Knowledgeable of the Clubsoft POS system, can accurately charge and troubleshoot as needed
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Education and/or Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent, preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience in hospitality and event related field, preferred
  • Previous bartender experience, required
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
  • Knowledgeable of the standards, procedures, and equipment used in the setup, operation, and care of food service
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and follow through
  • Adhere to club standards, policies, and guidelines
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move about the clubhouse and banquet rooms to service members
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling of items up to 50 lbs.
