Job Title: Regional Career Specialist
Length of Service: 210 Days
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership | Secondary
Location: GCS Central Office
*Position to start July 1st, 2026
Summary: The Regional Career Specialist serves as a liaison between the SC Dept. of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education, and Greenville County Schools to ensure coordination, accountability and delivery of career guidance and work-based learning initiatives as outlined in Perkins V and EEDA legislative requirements. In addition, the Regional Career Specialist will support the "learning to work" state standards of the South Carolina Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program Model thus, enhancing the delivery of career development the core curriculum standards. The RCS facilitates and delivers career development to K-12 students, promotes Graduation, Plus, nurtures business partnerships, leads professional development, links industry to education, and serves educators in career development support.
Qualifications: The person in this position should have the following credentials:
(1) Bachelor's Degree
(2) Current GCDF Certification and the initiative to obtain FCD Instructor Certification
(3) Experience all aspects of career and workforce development
(4) Strong communication skills
(5) Ability to work independently on multiple projects with several stakeholders is a must.
Performance Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and delivers professional development workshops in career development and contextual methodology to work-based learning to educators, school counselors, school leadership and work-based learning coordinators.
• Assists schools in promoting the goals of quality career development of students in K-12; promotes Graduation Plus and College and Career Readiness opportunities measures in all schools.
• Collaborates with stakeholders in education and local industry to develop talent pipeline programs which fill workforce gaps in critical needs areas through internships, co-ops and apprenticeship programs
• Serves as the primary team member for the implementation of Youth Leadership Greenville for GCS 11th grade students
• Serves on the district leadership team for LaunchGVL paid student internship program in partnership with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce
• Lead and develop the GCS portion of the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment plan due to the SC Department of Education every two years.
• Assist the Work Based Learning Team Lead in the organization and management of Work-Based Learning opportunities for high school students in collaboration with; develops systems to increase efficiency and expand options for students in all career clusters
• Serves as the Facilitating Career Development Instructor (FCD), trained through National Career Development Association, to provide annual FCD training for new school counselors in GCSD, as defined by EEDA requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
210 Day position with salary in Group L, Administrative/Supervisory Salary Schedule. ( 44,525- 74,765)
