SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, ensures customer expectations are accurately determined and fully met. Develops and broadens relationships within the customer organization to fully understand needs and wants; primarily acts as the inside half of the sales team, ensuring transactions are error?free and providing guidance and advice to less experienced Customer Service Representatives. This position spends more than 50% of the time at the customer location.
JOB DUTIES
- Responds to customer inquiries, provides quotes, and takes customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods, or walk?in (counter sales).
- Orders items to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained for consignment customers.
- Sources products in branch inventory, distribution center inventory, or supplier inventory. Ensures identification and sale of Motion Industries assets; may locate a product when required.
- Influences Motion Industries gross profit through negotiating sale price and purchase price within approved parameters.
- Proactively generates sales by actively promoting Motion Industries products to existing customers and expedites backorders.
- Acts as mentor/lead to lower?level employees.
- May act as subject?matter expert on multiple products, serve as backup for Operations Manager, pull inventory, prepare orders for shipment, and handle customer returns.
- May place orders without approval for orders up to $5,000 per line and $10,000 per purchase order.
- May adjust non?contract customer pricing to meet competitive demands while maximizing profit for Motion Industries.
- Minimizes branch freight cost by selecting the most cost?effective method to fulfill customer orders; regularly interacts with customers to obtain and fulfill orders correctly.
- Interacts with suppliers to obtain pricing for items and partners with Account Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction.
- May assist customers by troubleshooting via telephone or email and identifying the correct part.
- Attends training sessions regularly to continue professional growth and development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Typically requires a high school diploma or GED and five (5) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Reliability, organization, and attention to detail required.
- Customer service and communication skills required; ability to multi?task and manage time required.
- Moderate computer skills, including information processing, internal and external communications via email, use of business systems, and internet product search capabilities.
- Good driving record required.
